Scoliosis Treatment Melbourne | Scoliosis Centre | MOSIC

Welcome to Scoliosis Centre — Supporting your long term Spinal Health.

We provide individualised care for people living with scoliosis, with a focus on improving movement, reducing discomfort, and supporting long-term spinal health. Whether you've recently been diagnosed or have been managing scoliosis for years, our goal is to help you better understand your body and feel more confident in how you move.

Who is it for?

  • Adults/Adolescents living with persistent back or neck pain:
Maybe you've had treatment before but the pain keeps coming back once you return to daily activities. We work to address the root cause — not just manage symptoms — so you can get more out of life long-term.
  • Anyone dealing with stiffness, reduced mobility or fatigue from ongoing discomfort:
Scoliosis changes how your body distributes load and effort. If you're constantly compensating, it drains energy and limits what you can do. We can help you move with less effort and more ease.
  • Adolescents and families navigating scoliosis during growth years:
Early, informed care builds the foundation for better long-term outcomes — both physically and in terms of confidence. We support younger patients and their families throughout this process.
  • Anyone looking to better understand and manage their condition:
Whether you've had a recent diagnosis or have been living with scoliosis for years, we'll help you understand what's happening in your body and give you tools to manage it effectively.

What is scoliosis?

Scoliosis is a condition where the spine develops a sideways curve and rotation, which can affect posture, movement, muscle balance, and overall comfort.

For some people, scoliosis develops during adolescence and growth spurts. Others may not realise they have it until adulthood, when they begin experiencing ongoing back pain, stiffness, uneven posture, fatigue, or reduced mobility.

Every scoliosis presentation is different. Some people experience very little discomfort, while others notice persistent tension, movement restrictions, difficulty exercising, or discomfort sitting at a desk, sleeping, or staying active.

At AlignSpine Scoliosis Centre, we focus on more than just the shape of the spine — we focus on how scoliosis is affecting your everyday life, movement, confidence, and long-term health.

Common symptoms associated with scoliosis can include:

  • Persistent back, neck, or hip pain
  • Muscle tightness and stiffness
  • Uneven shoulders or hips
  • Reduced flexibility or mobility
  • Fatigue from prolonged sitting or standing
  • Difficulty exercising comfortably
  • Postural changes or body asymmetry
  • Reduced confidence in movement or appearance

Our goal is to help you better understand your body, reduce strain and discomfort, improve movement and strength, and support you with a personalised long-term management plan.

Many people with scoliosis can continue to live active, healthy lives with the right guidance, movement strategies, and support.

What does treatment involve?

  1. Initial consultation: We take time to understand your history, discuss your symptoms and goals, and assess how scoliosis is affecting your daily life. This appointment sets the direction for everything that follows.
  2. Comprehensive assessment: Spinal assessment including the Adam's Forward Bend Test, movement and mobility testing, postural evaluation, and referral for imaging (e.g. X-ray) where appropriate.
  3. Personalised treatment plan: Osteopathic manual therapy, targeted exercise rehabilitation, posture and movement education, and strategies to support daily activity — all built around your individual needs.
  4. Ongoing support: We track your progress, adjust your plan as you improve, and work with you to build long-term strength and confidence in how you move.

Our treatment focuses on four core pillars: understanding your movement, reducing strain and discomfort, building strength and resilience, and supporting long-term management beyond the clinic.
