The Melbourne Marathon Festival…Are You Competing?

With under five weeks to go until the annual Melbourne Marathon, the biggest marathon in Australia, an increasing number of Melbournians are now out and about running.

With a large selection of event choices available, all the way from the full 42km run to a 3km walk, it’s easy to see how this event has gone from just 2000 competitors in 1978, to over 35,000 in more recent years.

Coming across these people whilst running around the “Tan” or along the Yarra River, I often wonder what sort of training they are doing to prepare themselves for the event? And are they complementing their running with some sort of strength and stability training?

A Healthier Life for All: Interview with Triathlete Dan Kelly

Every day at Melbourne Osteopathy Sports Injury Centre we genuinely relate what we are doing to creating a ‘a healthier life for all’. This phrase is a large part of the vision that everyone at our Centre has agreed to work towards achieving each and every day. The phrase ‘a healthier life for all’ is our promise to our community. It is the drive behind our core values:

  1. Customer Service Excellence
  2. Clinical Excellence
  3. Leadership

Without a vision, we risk a journey without any real purpose or direction, as famously quoted by Helen Keller:

‘The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision.’

MoveBaby Natural Movement Workshop

As babies, our first movement is from the ground up. We roll, we crawl, we kneel, we squat, we learn to move…then we stand up, grow up, and forget.

MoveBaby is about going right back to the start and developing mobility, balance, coordination and strength through our most primal movement patterns. This workshop is an exploration of natural movement taken right back to where it all began. It’s a space to reconnect with your body, to re-learn how to move the way your body was designed to move.

Designed to teach skills and develop an experiential knowledge of the body in movement, this workshop is for anyone wanting a more intelligent and joyful experience of physical activity.

When: Saturday 4 October 2014, 1-3PM
Cost: $60
Where: The Yoga Lab, 494 Lygon St, Brunswick
