Dr Shane Buntman OsteopathShane took on the role of Director / Co-Owner of the clinic in 2012 as part of his vision to advance and develop standards of Osteopathy throughout Australia by providing a clinic that focuses purely on the individual patient and their journey to better health and well-being. Melbourne Osteopathy Centre’s aim is to provide a learning and development centre for all practitioners and clients.

Shane graduated in 2004 from Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia.  Before working as an Osteopath Shane worked as a Remedial Massage therapist in the community and health & fitness industry and completed a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Genetics and Biochemistry.

During five years spent in the UK Shane gained experience working in large multidisciplinary clinics throughout the country and treating clients from all walks of life, ranging from children to the elderly and social athletes to the elite.  His experience included treating sports injuries as well as spending two years treating the elderly community.  He worked for six months alongside leading Neurologists and Neurosurgeons in the UK.

Shane has maintained a keen interest in fitness with an expertise in triathlons and their specific injuries, rehabilitation and training requirements. He is also a member of Victoria’s largest triathlon squad, training 15 hours a week and regularly racing Olympic distance triathlon events throughout Australia.

Shane has specialised interest in treating acute and chronic lower back problems, shoulder injuries, neurological conditions as well as structural musculo-skeletal problems. He is skilled in manipulation, biomechanics and functional rehabilitation, Dry Needling, and biomechanical and postural assessments.

In 2008 and 2009, Shane was appointed as the head Osteopath on the Ladies British Golf Open treating the world’s best golfers.  He was also appointed to clinical supervisor at the British School of Osteopathy and London School of Osteopathy.  He now helps develop Australia’s young Osteopaths by teaching at Victoria University, running internship programs and providing tutorials within the Clinic.
