Dr Catherine Allison (Osteopath) graduated in 2010 from Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia. Before working as an Osteopath, Catherine worked as a Clinical Pilates instructor in the health & fitness industry. Catherine has also worked alongside St Kevins Old Boys football club as a sports trainer, and trained and worked as a Bootcamp instructor with Original Bootcamp Australia. Catherine completed a double degree including a Masters of Osteopathy in which she completed a research project into the effects of bike seat pressure on the perineum in relation to urinary dysfunction in exercising males.
Catherine has been heavily involved in the sporting community from an early age, originally competing for Box Hill athletics club as a junior and representing Australia in the World Schools Cross Country Championships in 2002. Catherine has competed across a wide variety of distances as a long distance runner and now competes in both domestic and international triathlon events. In 2014 Catherine represented Australia in both the standard and 70.3 Ironman distance at the age group World Championships. In 2015 she finished 2nd in her age group at the ITU Duathlon World Championships in Adelaide. Catherine is also a member of Victoria’s biggest triathlon club and trains up to 15 times per week.
Catherine’s extensive experience as an athlete is pivotal to her work as an Osteopath and through years of training Catherine has developed an extensive understanding of how the body moves and why injuries occur. Catherine has a keen interest in working with sporting injuries, particularly amongst the triathlon and running communities. Catherine completed additional training in neuromuscular dry needling and has completed an 18-month clinical Pilates course through the APMA. In addition, Catherine has worked at Fertile Ground health group and has experience in working with pregnant patients and children from birth through to high school age.
